We are proud to announce that we have been chosen as the Official Local Charity Partner for the Oxford Half Marathon! Join the Helen & Douglas House team for this run through the historic heart of Oxford. There is a brand new route taking in Oxford's city centre and the most stunning sites around the city.
This year we have decided to run a unique marketing campaign based around the Oscar winning film Forrest Gump, which we hope will encourage more runners like you to run for Helen & Douglas House. I just thought I would let you know all about it as you are one of the first to sign up to run the Oxford Half with Helen & Douglas House.
One of our most dedicated running supporters Ewan “Forrest” Gump recently completed running from John O’Groats to Lands End dressed as Forrest Gump, in memory of his little friend Thomas Laurie who stayed at Helen House. His efforts made news all over the world and helped raise awareness of all of the charities he supports, one of which is us! Ewan has kindly agreed to be the face of the Oxford Half Marathon as Forrest this year for Helen & Douglas House:
“My name is Forrest, Forrest Gump. I run for Helen & Douglas House because they cared for my little friend Thomas Laurie. Thomas died of Cockayne Syndrome last February and now he lends we his wings which help me run like the wind blows. Come and join me at the Oxford Half Marathon, come and run for Helen & Douglas House and make a difference to the children and young adults they care for. Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get!”
If you would like to read a bit more about Ewan/ Forrest, you can read more about him at his Facebook page.
