Housekeeping Team Member (Mondays to Thursdays and Sunday)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Band 2 (£15,404-£18,157) per year depending on experience

Role

The post holder will undertake general cleaning such as: polishing, vacuuming, mopping floors in the bathrooms, toilets and communal areas, emptying the bins, cleaning desks, buffing floors, steam cleaning patient’s bedrooms and offices, running taps and showers to prevent legionella outburst, attending to mandatory trainings, cleaning flats for families to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the hospices, reflecting the home from home ethos of Helen and Douglas House. This will include good hygiene, infection control and health and safety.

Pay rates

Band 2 ( £15,404-£18,157) per year depending on experience.

(example for salary breakdown Band 2.2 : £15,404 per year).

Monday to Thursday : £7.90 per hour, Sunday £13.11 per hour (includes unsocial enhancements).

Hours

Monday to Thursday : 6:30am - 2:30pm (hours worked before 8am are paid with unsocial enhancements)

Sunday: 8:30am - 4:30pm (hours worked are paid with unsocial enhancements)

The Charity

Helen & Douglas House cares for terminally ill children, young adults and their families through exceptional hospice care. We provide medical, emotional and practical support, helping families deal with the implications of living with a child who will die prematurely, so they can make the most of their time together. As a charity we rely almost entirely on donations to support our families.

We are looking for someone who works effectively within a team as well as being able to work independently within pre-determined boundaries.  Previous experience in a role carrying out domestic responsibilities in the workplace is essential. The successful candidate will have well developed English language skills, in order to communicate effectively with team members and understand written instructions and health and safety information.
