Interim Sibling Team Leader


Location: Oxford

Type: Fixed Term Contract

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Salary: Band 6 (£26,565 - £35,577) per year depending on experience

The Charity: Helen & Douglas House cares for terminally ill children, young adults and their families through exceptional hospice care. We provide medical, emotional and practical support, helping families deal with the implications of living with a child who will die prematurely, so they can make the most of their time together. As a charity we rely almost entirely on donations to support our families.

The Role: We are currently looking for a dynamic person to cover the maternity leave of our sibling team leader. This small team offers vital support to the siblings or offspring of patients using Helen & Douglas House services. The sibling team is part of a wider team including bereavement support workers, a social worker and a clinical psychologist, providing support and counselling to the families. The Family Support and Bereavement Team work alongside the Care Teams to deliver integrated, well-communicated care to families’ pre and post bereavement.

We are looking for someone with experience in working with children in a therapeutic capacity and who can facilitate activity groups for the children with a small team including volunteers. You will have experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team but also be comfortable working independently. You will be an excellent and discrete listener and communicator. You will need to be self-aware and able to maintain a good home / work life balance.
