Nine members of the Douglas House Care Team are running in the British London 10k on 12 July to raise funds for Helen & Douglas House.
For Jane Channon and Kate Barklie this will be the 4th year of the British 10k. Kate has a personal connection with the charity, as not only does she work there but her daughter Natalie stayed at Helen House for respite care in the early 1980’s when the house had only been open for a few years.
Kate Barklie said: ‘Natalie died at the age of 5 and she would be 25 this year, but I still remember visiting Helen House and the support that we received. It is really important to me to do this for the charity. The staff here get on really well and we are training together whenever we can, which isn’t easy because of shift work!
Several of the team are also taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge, 17-19 July, to raise funds for the charity.
