The bright modern shop at 144 Crockhamwell Road, RG5 3JH, will sell quality new and used goods. It will have a Manager and Assistant Manager, but local volunteers have an essential role in the day-to-day running of the shop. Training and further opportunities are open to all volunteers.
David Cryer, Head of Retail, Helen & Douglas House said; ‘It is a great pleasure to be able to open the new shop here in Woodley. We hope that it will raise awareness of the service we provide for families from across Berkshire, as well as vital funds for the charity. We hope to add to the shopping experience in this area and hopefully local people will also consider donating their unwanted items and maybe volunteering some of their time to help in the shop.’
Helen & Douglas House won the Queens Award for Voluntary Services in June of this year. The award is the highest given to volunteer groups across the UK for outstanding work done in their local communities.
