Brecon Beacons FAQs
In order for you to fully enjoy your trip, we recommend that you undertake prior training which should start several months before the trip. Allowing you to build up your regime slowly. Leaving your training last minute will not be as effective and there is more chance of injury. As a rough guide you should be easily walking at 4 km an hour, carrying a rucksack, on rough ground.
We will provide you with a full recommended kit list on registering. This will include key items such as rucksack (40 litre capacity ideally), warm layers, waterproof jacket and walked-in footwear. Walking boots or trail running shoes are best. If you’re happy in trainers then that’s fine. If you want more support in rough ground then walking boots are better. Either way they need to be comfy and have been worn before in the mountains.
If you are interested in a 2 night package that includes accommodation and travel, please let us know at events@helenanddouglas.org.uk and we’ll let you know the options. This will be an additional cost to the £30 registration fee. If you would prefer to make your own arrangements, we will let you know the on the day meeting point.
If you want to have a look at the 36km route – have a look here. If you click the ‘plane’ symbol it will fly the route in 3D!
