Other celebrations

Support terminally ill children by fundraising on a special occasion.

Fundraise at your celebration

Whatever your celebration, your wedding anniversary, a christening or some other occasion, you can celebrate in style by raising money to help local families.

You can fundraise on the day or asking for donations instead of presents, which will add even more special moments to your big day. By supporting Helen & Douglas House you will make special memories in the same way we help parents of terminally ill children make memories at the hospice which they will treasure forever.

Set up a celebration fundraising page

It is quick and easy to set up your fundraising page. You can then circulate the link to friends and family for them to donate in lieu of presents or just as an extra special gift.

Organise a celebration collection

You can organise collection at your celebration which we can provide Gift Aid envelopes or collection tins for. Giving gift aid will increase your donations by 25%.

Jasper’s Story

Jasper has a life shortening condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He has been coming for short respite stays at Helen & Douglas House since 2016 and celebrated his 14th birthday at the hospice.

Jasper enjoys all the activities whilst staying with us including splashing about in their pool and regularly attends the Helen & Douglas House #Network Saturdays. This youth group was set up to create a safe space for the young people in their teenage years, who use Helen & Douglas House, to come to socialise and interact with their peers. Disability can cause issues with accessing social activities and the knock-on effect of this can be loneliness, isolation, lack of interest, low self-esteem and confidence.

‘I like to play pool, play games and go for ice cream and a movie with other kids. Also #Network Saturday youth club has been a great way to spend a Saturday and a nice change from being at home. I like the social activities and making friends. There are lots of fun activities to do at the hospice and it is a nice break from home.’
