Housekeeping Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to support our Housekeeping Team.  While all days need a Housekeeping Team, Thursday is a particularly busy day in the hospice.

Families and children usually go home early after a stay and families arrive early afternoon. It is a quick turnover and if you chose to be a housekeeping volunteer at Helen & Douglas House you will join a welcoming team and do a crucial role to support local families using our service.

You will be helping the Housekeeping Team to clean and reset children’s and family rooms in Helen House when the families leave after their stay, as well as cleaning and keeping tidy other care areas around the hospice to ensure a good environment for care and work is provided.

While Thursdays are always busy, all days offered are welcome.  We would ideally want you to volunteer for at least three to four hours each time you come in to ensure a room or set of rooms are properly cleaned.  A broad commitment of a year volunteering with the charity is desirable.

There are no specific skills required, only a willingness to learn and take direction.  We are looking for someone who is approachable and friendly, enjoys working as part of a team with a passion for housekeeping.

For more information, please see the Role Profile and if you are interested in joining us then please click “Apply” now!

Volunteers are entitled to claim travel expenses in line with our Expenses Policy.  Refreshments are provided during your shift and a free lunch can be claimed from the hospice kitchen for shifts of three hours or more.

Helen & Douglas House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are an equal opportunities employer and value the benefits of a diverse workforce. We positively encourage applications from all areas of the community.
