Why work for Helen & Douglas House

This is your chance to make a difference to the lives of terminally ill babies and children

Our team works together to make a difference. At Helen & Douglas House, a career is more than just a job – it’s a passion.

Without a great team of staff and volunteers we could not provide the level of care and support for children and their families that we do. Are you ready to join a team that makes a difference? If you think that a hospice could be a challenging place to work you are right, but if you also think that giving your best and feeling a sense of achievement and worth every day is what you want from your working life, then consider joining the friendly team here at Helen & Douglas House.

The work you do will have a direct impact on babies and children’s short lives, so if you’re ready to explore your potential, Helen & Douglas House could be the place for you.

This year, we need to raise £3.6 million to keep our hospice open. Your skills and passion could help us achieve this while also making a difference to the lives of local terminally ill babies and children to live their short lives to the full. Every single person has a special role to play. We all have individual qualities, skills and personalities that come together to make us who we are.

From nursing to admin and maintenance and lots more in-between, we have a range of opportunities within the hospice in Oxford and externally in our shops across our region.

We offer great Terms & Conditions and for nurses currently working for the NHS continuation of service can be honoured.

Do you want to know what it is like working here? Hear from one of our staff in her own words.

Vacancies that involve contact with our patients, their families and carers may be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You will be provided with full details of this as part of the application process.
