Help families like Paul’s and Siobhan’s

The 5th August 2020 was meant to be the happiest day of Paul and Siobhan’s lives. Their twin boys James and Ryan were finally making their way into the world. Then they had the terrible news that James was born sleeping. And Ryan, although still alive, was in a very serious condition.

Paul said ‘In Ryan’s usual fighting way, when the machines that were keeping him alive were removed, he kept breathing on his own. And, although nothing could be done for him, he kept holding on for that bit longer. He was entering what became known as ‘Ryan Time’.

‘We got transferred to Helen & Douglas House children’s hospice to spend what we knew were the final hours/days with Ryan. He finally left us after a further three and a half days, on 14th August.

‘I have fundraised for Helen & Douglas House both at the Butterfly Bimble last year, and my own challenge of running a mile a day for 365 days last year. This is because I honestly don’t think my wife Siobhan and I could have gotten through what was the most awful and challenging time without Helen & Douglas House and the other local charities who supported us.

‘Please sign up to take part in the Butterfly Bimble to remember your loved one just as we will be taking part to remember James and Ryan again.’
