At Helen & Douglas House Children’s Hospice our remarkable nurses have the time, support and expertise to do what matters most – helping children with life-shortening conditions create treasured memories and make the most of every day.
We are looking for Nurses (RNC/RSCN/RNLD/RNChild) with paediatric nursing experience to join the utterly dedicated Helen & Douglas House Team providing holistic family-centred, one-to-one care.
You will walk alongside extraordinary families, often over many years, which is a privilege and an honour. We have full-time and part-time Band 5 Nurse, Band 6 Nurse, and Band 7 Clinical Lead roles available in our Care Team. We also have Band 6 Outreach Nurse roles available in our Outreach Team.
A happy place in beautiful grounds
You will be based in our warm and welcoming children’s hospice building, in beautiful grounds between Cowley and Iffley Road in the historic city of Oxford. Our newly renovated Garden Room is a special place where parents can go for reflection or enjoy a moment of relaxation whilst their child is looked after by the Care Team.
As for our charming garden, it offers a space for calming contemplation, relaxation and reflection, sensory stimulation, adventure and exploration. The hospice comes to life through laughter, play and quality time with children where end-of-life care is only one part of our service: we are about living, not dying.

Our Care and Outreach Teams are a vibrant blend of talented multi-disciplinary professionals, who share an authentic passion for delivering the highest possible standard of care to patients and their families. Our Nurses act as advocates for Children’s Palliative Care and in return, we support them by providing tailored professional development plans to allow them to fulfil their potential.
Palliative care experience is welcomed, but not essential as full training will be given to equip you with the necessary skills to care for seriously ill children and support their families.
