Meet Shop Volunteer – Dawn
Dawn has been volunteering at the Cirencester Helen & Douglas House shop for four years. She is retired and spends time caring for her pets including chickens and dogs and plays netball and rounders.
Dawn got to know the staff and volunteers at the Helen & Douglas House charity shop in Cirencester through shopping there. They were very friendly, so she started volunteering there for 3 hours a week on a Thursday afternoon. She does everything from serving at the till, through to cleaning and sorting clothes.
Dawn said ‘I love volunteering at the Helen & Douglas House shop because I like meeting new people and we have fun volunteering there. Every year we get invited to a Christmas party where we all get together to celebrate.
‘It is very rewarding to help at the shop. It has given me a good insight into the care needed for local terminally ill children and the amazing support Helen & Douglas House gives them. I am very impressed with the work they do to support these families.
‘I would encourage people to volunteer for Helen & Douglas House because it is great fun. They are lovely people to work with, so cheerful and you will be helping local families too by raising money to fund the care they need for their terminally ill children.’
Can you help? We are extremely short of volunteers in our charity shops!
We are looking for shop volunteers too so pop into your local charity shop or take a look online to find out more about the great opportunities we may have.
