The death of a child is every parent’s worst nightmare

You don’t think it could ever happen to you. You couldn’t imagine how you’d cope if it did. Because how could anybody ever be prepared for the devastating news that their child will die?

For the families we care for, the loss of a child isn’t just a nightmare – it’s a reality. When their world is falling apart, we’re here to support them through this heartbreaking time. We help terminally ill babies and children to live their short lives to the full, creating happy memories in their final days, weeks, months or years with their families.

Your donation will help a local family facing the toughest situation imaginable

As a charity, we need to raise £3.4 million each year just to pay for care. Almost all of this comes from people like you, and every donation makes a huge difference to the help we can offer to terminally ill children and their families.

£10 could help pay for a carer for a day

£12 could help provide four sessions with a Play Therapist

£15 could help pay for a doctor for four hours

£20 could help pay for five bereavement counselling sessions for parents

We can’t do this without your help

 At Helen & Douglas House, we help terminally ill babies and children to live their short lives to the full. Our peaceful hospice feels like home, a comforting place where families can create happy memories together at this unimaginably difficult time. Patients have 24/7 access to nursing and medical care for their often very rare conditions, while mums, dads, brothers, sisters and grandparents all receive practical and emotional support.

We work hard to raise the money we need through our shops, events, lottery funding and applying for grants. But that can only raise so much, and since we receive very limited NHS funding, over 80% of the money we need comes from kind donations from people like you.

No matter how much you’re able to give, you can be sure you’ll be making a big difference to the families we support.
