Helen & Douglas House is supported by dedicated volunteers who work alongside our Care team to help deliver both clinical and practical support in Helen House. This support is a vital part of what we do.
By providing administrative support, volunteers enable our clinical teams to spend more time focusing on caring for children, young people, and their families. Our wider team also works together to support staff development, improve learning, and ensure we continue to provide safe, high-quality care. We also work with external organisations to make the most of the support and opportunities available to the families we care for.
As this role may involve being in areas where children and families are present. Before starting, all volunteers in this role will need to complete:
- An Enhanced DBS check
- Level 2 Safeguarding training (for both adults and children)
- Other appropriate checks as part of our safe recruitment process
These steps help us to ensure a safe, supportive environment for everyone.
Helen & Douglas House is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment for all children, young people, and families. Safeguarding is central to everything we do.
We take our responsibilities extremely seriously and have robust recruitment, vetting and supervision processes in place to ensure that everyone who volunteers with us is suitable for the role. This includes thorough application screening, references, enhanced DBS checks where required, and ongoing safeguarding training and oversight.
These measures help us to protect those in our care and ensure that those volunteering for us share our values and commitment to safety, professionalism, and integrity.
