Remembrance and Celebration Events

As part of our Bereavement Support, we invite families to attend a special Remembrance Event
There is no right or wrong way to grieve. We offer bereavement support to families, for up to two years, following the death of their child. As well as individual and group sessions, we also offer families the chance to attend special annual remembrance events. Annual remembrance and celebration events offer families a chance to celebrate their beloved child’s life together in a way that’s special and unique to them.

2023 Remembrance and Celebration Event

2023 Remembrance event

The 2023 remembrance event took place at Helen & Douglas House. We invited 30 families to come to the hospice for the special event which allowed them to come together and remember their children. They wrote messages for the memory tree, made candles and siblings contributed their own art and music.

2024 Keepsake Circle Event

In 2023, bereaved families met with Kiki and Angus from The Keepsake Circle to talk about their children and the lives they had together for a special song that would be produced just for them. In 2024, The Keepsake Circle met again at Kingston Bagpuize House for a concert of those songs.

What it means to families

Jessica Newell with her mum and dad
Working with Kiki and Angus has been beautiful. It was quite hard to begin, trying to capture everything about Jessica when we met with them, but it’s incredible to see how that has turned into this incredible song. James, Jessica’s brother, got to play the Chimes at the start of the song, and that makes it feel like a real family song. This song is another step along our journey to remember her.  We’re looking forward to listening to it over and again – to sit back, close our eyes and think deeply to remember her and what she meant to us”
