For the first time in years, Helen & Douglas House will hold a star-studded charity comedy gala, hosted by Matt Richardson and friends. This one-night-only event brings together a stellar lineup of comedians, all performing for a fantastic cause. 

Join us on 17th February at the New Theatre Oxford, where a night of side-splitting humour awaits. With proceeds going to support local children with life-limiting illnesses, you can enjoy a hilarious evening while making a difference in your community.

The comedian Matt Richardson

Meet your host, Matt Richardson

Having started stand-up at just 18 years old, Matt is now a fixture at all the major comedy clubs in the UK and has performed overseas on countless occasions.

Matt is a seasoned TV and radio host and has presented shows such as The Extra Factor (ITV2), The Hangover Games (E4) and Virgin Radio’s Drive Time Show.

His other TV appearances include Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC Two), Roast Battle (Comedy Central), Celebrity Juice (ITV) and pretty much any spin-off show you can name!

Joel Dommett

Joel Dommett

One of the safest and funniest pairs of hands on television, Joel Dommett has become a firm fixture on TV in the last few years.

During his successful stint on I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of here! (where he finished second), Joel gained thousands of fans due to his unique brand of humour and loveable personality.

As well as touring his live stand-up shows across the UK and co-hosting the podcast Never Have I Ever, Joel has been the frontman of Saturday night smash-hit The Masked Singer since 2020.

Jen Brister

Jen Brister

The “furiously funny” (The Guardian) Jen Brister is a critically acclaimed stand up comedian and writer. She is a regular performer on the UK and international comedy circuits and has made memorable appearances on BBC’s Live at the Apollo, QI and Mock the Week.

Her book, a comedy memoir, “The Other Mother” was published by Square Peg in 2019.

Angela Barnes

Angela Barnes

Angela Barnes swapped a career in health and social care for stand-up in 2010 and hasn’t looked back.

She won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2011 and has toured around the country with her stand-up shows, as well as performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Angela is a firm favourite on BBC Radio 4 and has starred in BBC Two’s Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, House of Games, and Hypothetical on Dave.

Stephen Bailey

Stephen Bailey’s witty, gossip-driven humour has quickly made him one of the UK’s most sought-after talents in comedy and entertainment.

Stephen has hosted Live at the Apollo and appeared on various popular TV shows such as Would I Lie To You?, Celebrity Mastermind, and The Madame Blanc Mysteries.

He has also supported major stand-up comedians like Mickey Flanagan, Katherine Ryan, and Sarah Millican on their tours.

Jake Lambert has performed stand-up all over the world, supporting the likes of Michael McIntyre, Romesh Ranganathan, and Jack Dee.

Josh Pugh

Josh’s clever and heartwarming style keeps the laughter flowing.

In 2022, he was nominated for Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Award, and following his sell-out tour in 2023, Josh is currently touring his new show, ‘Existin’ La Vida Loca’.

Getting to the theatre

By car

Parking in Oxford can be difficult. Customers are advised to use the Park and Ride facilities if possible.

Oxford Park and Ride information.

There is no parking or dropping off on George Street without a permit.

By train

Oxford train station is a convenient ten minute walk from the theatre.

New Theatre Oxford is committed to making its venue accessible for all to ensure everyone can enjoy the magic of live theatre. They will make reasonable adjustments to enable and improve your visit.

Step Free Access and Wheelchairs – There is level access to the Box Office and main foyer on George Street. Doors can be operated automatically by a push button. There are four wheelchair positions located at the rear of the stalls, with room for one companion to sit alongside. This area can be accessed by our wheelchair lift. Wheelchairs that are not needed during the show will be stored safely by front of house staff.

Accessible toilets – Accessible toilets are located in the main foyer and front right-hand stalls.

Visual Impairment Services – Information about audio description, touch tours and other visual services can be found on the theatre’s Visual Impairment Services page.

Hearing Impairment Services –Information about the venue’s hearing enhancement systems, signed performances and other hearing services can be found on the theatre’s Hearing Impairment Services page.

Assistance Dogs – Assistance dogs are welcome in all parts of the theatre. If you wish to bring your assistance dog, please advise the Box Office when booking your tickets so that the theatre can organise a member of staff to take care of your dog.
