We are looking for volunteers to support our Gardening Services Team.
You will assist with maintaining the grounds of Helen & Douglas House all year round for our patients and families as well as staff and other volunteers, to keep the garden looking beautiful and be a place of joy for all.
If you have some basic DIY skills to cover off any ad hoc maintenance jobs that may need doing, that too would be welcomed.
Days can be flexible to suit but ideally a shift of three to four hours, once a week during the spring, summer and autumn would be what we are hoping you can offer. Additional hours or days would be welcome, especially during times when regular watering may be required.
No specific training or knowledge is required as support and direction will be provided by the Gardening Services Team, but some experience of plants and garden maintenance would be welcomed.
A willingness to be adaptable, part of a team and assist with whatever is required at a particular time of year are the qualities we’d like to see, along with a positive attitude and ability to work on your own if requested.
For more information, please see the Role Profile and if you are interested in joining us then please click “Apply” now!
Volunteers are entitled to claim travel expenses in line with our Expenses Policy. Refreshments are provided during your shift and a free lunch can be claimed from the hospice kitchen for shifts of three hours or more.
Helen & Douglas House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are an equal opportunities employer and value the benefits of a diverse workforce. We positively encourage applications from all areas of the community.
