Retail Shop Volunteer

*We are currently accepting applications in our various shops*

Would you be able to spare a few hours a week to help support Helen & Douglas House and raise vital funds?

We have various opportunities available, from visual merchandising, sorter, sewing bee to customer service and till operator, these can be just a few hours a week over the summer to a more permanent role building new skills.

We also welcome people who would like to support our charity, and those who want to continue their retail journey. Full Training will be given for all store volunteer roles.

Till Operator

Are you a bubbly and friendly person who likes getting to know new people and having a chat to our customers, then a till volunteer is the role for you.  This role will entail efficiency, cash handling and operating basic technology. Full training will be given.

Super Sorter

If you know your Prada from your Primark and like a treasure hunt, this could be the role for you. You will know what current fashion is, what may be valuable, collectable, or just saleable and will raise vital funds for us. In the current environment, there will also be an element of steaming items (of course we will train you how to do this) so that they look pristine and are as fresh as a daisy.

Visual Merchandising

Do you pride yourself with great merchandising skills and find it easy to put together current trends or eye-catching displays? We have a treasure trove of items ready to display.

Lister/Photographer

We have a thriving eBay shop and need people who can help us grow our ecommerce operation. If you know your depop from your diesel or are a savvy social media seller, we want to hear from you.

Furniture Builder

Do you have great D.I.Y skills? If you can make up flatpack furniture (or help dismantle or move it) we could use your help. (Only in our Didcot, Carterton, Headington and Rose Hill shops)

Some of our roles do not require you to be in the shops, but simply to support them.

Sewing bee

Would you like to use your creative skills to help our charity raise vital funds?

This will form a part of an exciting new chapter for us. Please enquire to find out more!!

Or are you great with making things as good as new, sewing on buttons, mending rips and replacing Zips?

If you are intrigued and have a sewing machine and a good pair of eyes, click apply!

Puzzler

We receive many donations of Toys and Puzzles and before reselling, we need to be sure that they are complete so need a patient person who likes a challenge.

If any of this sounds like your cup of tea, and you are interested in becoming a” super hero” for Helen & Douglas House (what a great role to have on your CV😊) please click ‘Apply’ today!

*Please ensure you state which role you would like to apply for in your application*

Helen & Douglas House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are an equal opportunities employer and value the benefits of a diverse workforce. We positively encourage applications from all areas of the community.
