What is the Blenheim 7K Fun Run?

The Blenheim 7k run, Junior 1 mile run and 4 mile wheelchair/buggy event. The Junior race, open to under 15s, starts before the main 7k and makes the event a great family day out. Race entry entitles you to entry to the palace grounds, so after the race take your time to enjoy the surroundings, or visit the Palace (not included).

The 7k course takes you on a wonderful tour of the stunning grounds; this distance is suitable for the more experienced athlete looking for a sprint event to anyone looking to step up from a 5k, or a beginner completing their first running race. The wheelchair and buggy event will differ slightly, it takes place over a 4-mile course following the trails around the grounds of Blenheim Palace; this undulating path offer participants a real challenge. For more information visit Blenheim 7k website.

Why should you put on your running shoes for Helen & Douglas House?

Your participation in the Blenheim 7K is going to make a real difference to local terminally ill children and their families. This year, it costs £3.6m to run our hospice and provide our outreach nursing service to help families at home and we cannot do this without your help.

Jessica is five-year-old and has a life-shortening neurological condition called Leigh’s Disease and has been coming to Helen & Douglas House for respite stays with her parents since September 2014.

‘When Jessica was diagnosed we were advised to enjoy every day that we had with her. They indicated that she wouldn’t make it through her toddler years, but we don’t really know. But I do think when you come here it gives you hope. You realise there are lots of things you can do with a child with a disability that you might not have thought about before.’ Vicky, Jessica’s Mummy
